Avi Primor

Photograph is a still taken out of the interview by Noémi Schlosser.

Born in Tel Aviv on April 8th, 1935

Mr Avi Primor was Ambassador to Israel since the 1950s, but as a teenager he would listen to the Underground radio reports of the Lechi till late at night and dreamed of joining them. He has vivid memories how on November 30, the day after the UN declaration: “I almost didn’t get to go to school! The streets were so full, there was an extreme excitement. Busses couldn’t drive through the streets cause everybody was dancing! Some people were crying too… ‘ Once at school they were all gathered and the teachers explained what had happened and shortly after released the pupils. That to him was the best thing of all! No school that day!
